IV. Прочитайте текст и выполните задания. WHY RADIANT HEAT IS BETTER THAN FORCED AIR HEAT One of the most popular types of heating systems is radiant heat. Unfortunately, not many houses are built with a complete system that is set up to heat the whole house this way. It is more expensive than other kinds of heat so most often you will find just certain rooms, like the bathrooms, heated with radiant heat. In order to get floor heat in all the rooms, the house has to pretty much be built that way from the start. Because forced air heating systems are cheaper, few builders build their houses with radiant heat. If you want that type of heat, it is best to buy a house that has not been built yet and put radiant heat in as one of the upgrades. You need to put the radiant heat underneath the floors of the whole house and this is really only practical as the house is under construction. Radiant heat can be installed two different ways. The first is hydronic radiant heat and that is heat generated from hot water moving through pipes that are beneath the floor. Obviously, with water involved and being heated, a hydronic heating system is both expensive and difficult to install to make sure nothing leaks. If you want your house to be heated in this fashion, it is best to have it put in as the house is being built. This is why most people opt for electric radiant heat which is much easier to install and less risky for future problems. Of the two kinds of radiant heat, electric radiant heat is also the cheapest to install. Electric radiant heat works similarly to a toaster in that electricity heats up metal coils and transmits heat. This type of heat is installed in existing homes using pads that carry the wires which are put in under the floor. Every cold winter is especially hard on a person's skin because the air is very dry. One of the problems is that most homes have forced air heating which contributes greatly to the dryness. All this does is push the dry warm air from room to room, which is terrible for a person's skin. If your home has radiant floor heat, you know how lucky you are as that heat is not as dry and does not circle from room to room.
