The study of cultural concepts based on dating advertisements

Introduction

The study of cultural concepts based on dating advertisements can be interesting for a number of reasons: firstly, advertisements of this kind contain information relating to the sphere of people’s personal lives; secondly, the features that characterize this or that concept are very diverse and can indicate both similarities and differences between the cultures being compared; thirdly, cultural concepts as a subject of research have repeatedly attracted the attention of linguists (N.D. Arutyunova, T.V. Bulygina, A. Vezhbitskaya, S.G. Vorkachev, V.G. Gak, etc.), but, in our opinion, have not yet been studied using the material of dating advertisements.The research's attention to the problem of expressing personality in language, to the ethnolinguistic aspects of language, a comparative study of the conceptual space of the Russian and English languages, insufficient knowledge of Russian and English dating advertisements in terms of their conceptual richness determine the relevance of the chosen topic of work.The object of study of this work is Russian and English dating advertisements.The subject of the study is the conceptual space of Russian and English advertisements.The purpose of the research under review: a comparative analysis of Russian-language and English-language dating advertisements (personal advertisements).The purpose is achieved by solving the following tasks:1. Study the concept of “Personal Ads”, study the historical facts of the emergence of personal ads;2. Consider the types of advertisements;2. Study the characteristic features of male dating advertisements;3. Study the characteristic features of women's dating advertisements;4. Based on the identified features, compare male and female advertisements.The hypothesis of the study is that the analysis of the conceptual space of Russian and English advertisements allows us to record the similarities and differences in the mental world of the Russian and English people, determine the specifics of the national character, identify a network of cultural dominants that are relevant for Russian and English marriage advertisements, see the features of the cultural development of Russian and English English ethnic groups.
