Introduction

In recent years, the European economy has faced unprecedented challenges that have deeply affected thе lives of its citizens and the state of businesses. Following 2021, as the world began to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new set of difficulties began to exert pressure on the region's economic stability. Inflation, emerging as one of the key challenges, significantly defined the economic agenda in Europe. According to the European Central Bank, inflation in the Eurozone, which had remained at relatively low levels in preceding years, soared to record heights in 2022, reaching double digits in some countries. This alarmed economists and policymakers alike, as persistently high inflation can undermine purchasing power and economic growth.

The energy crisis, exacerbated by geopolitical tensions, particularly the situation in Eastern Europe, led to a sharp increase in energy prices. This, in turn, fueled inflationary processes. Moreover, the repercussions of Brexit continue to be felt in trade and economic relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union, creating additional economic barriers and uncertainty.

However, alongside these challenges, positive trends have also emerged within the European economy. For instance, the technology and innovation market, including the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors, demonstrated significant growth, largely thanks to companies like Nvidia. Their success on the stock market not only strengthened the positions of the technology sector but also attracted investors' attention to Europe as a hub for innovative developments.

In this context, it becomes evident that the economic situation in Europe post-2021 is a complex interplay of both challenges and opportunities. Inflation, the energy crisis, geopolitical tensions, and the aftermath of Brexit have significantly influenced economic dynamics, yet innovations and the growth of financial markets showcase potential for recovery and further development. In this essay, we will attempt to understand whether Europe has managed to overcome the challenges related to inflation after 2021 and what factors will shape its economic future.

Energy crisis in Europe

Energy crisis 2021–2023 - this is not a crisis of Russian-European relations, but a global crisis that has affected the EU, which in a certain way affects relations between the EU and Russia.
A steady increase in prices for natural gas, as for other commodities, was observed throughout 2021. The main reasons were primarily related to the rapid recovery of economic activity after strict quarantines last year. With loose monetary policies and fiscal stimulus undertaken by many countries, global financial markets recovered quickly. And the rapid recovery of the global economy contributed to the growth of commodity markets.
