Science is one of the most important fields of human activities. It moves the humanity forward and changes it completely. There is no doubt that being a scientist is not easy, as that means you take a huge responsibility for your results. Besides, there are some other point we are going to consider.
To begin with, people who live with scientists at the same time often don’t understand their ideas, and, therefore, believe that scientists are wrong. It takes some time to realise how brilliant their ideas and theories were. So scientists should know that maybe their works will be accepted only in the future, and that’s what they work for.
Moreover, scientific research is one of the most rewarding occupations. What does a scientist get as a result of his work? It is more than just a sum of money. Scientists know that the future of the world is in their hands, they can change it. Experiencing changes in the world happening due to you is one of the best feelings a human can get.
However, to get to the point where you are witnessing changes, one must have faith in what he does. There are scientists who give up on their way to success because it’s hard to keep going if your actions are disapproved or not accepted. But those who believe in what they do, make great achievements.
All in all, science is a tough sphere if don’t have enough faith in what you do. Nevertheless, in the end of the way, they are greatly rewarded not only with material things but they can see how their work develops the world we live in.

In this essay I’d like to share some information about funds and programmes of foreign universities that I’d like to apply for. Firstly, I’m going to describe the main features of programmes and their advantages and then we’ll move on to a certain university and give a description of it as well.
The first programme to touch upon is taking a master course in Harbin. It is suitable for those who want to study something connected with management, chemistry, mechanics, physics and so on. The description of the programme says that besides the program, you’ll have an opportunity to study the Chinese language for a year, which is a huge advantage. The grant covers the expenses on studying, renting a flat and also the admission fee. The participants get 800 yuans for medical insurance every year. Moreover, every month they get a 3000 yuan scholarship.
The second programme is a great opportunity to co-operate with French researchers as a part of the agreement between Russian Fund of Fundamental Researches and National Centre of Scientific Research in France (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, CNRS). It’s a good choice for people who are interested in not only reaching their own scientific goals but for those who want to share their experience with foreign counterparts. The application period is not limited so becoming a part of this programme is quite easy.
Speaking about universities suitable for my further research, I’d like to say about Oil, Gas and Energy Engineering programme of the University of Nicosia in Greece. It is intended for students who have a strong motivation and enthusiasm toward technological research and innovation, and are inclined to remain in an academic or research environment working on emerging technologies and challenging engineering projects.
During their studies, students will have the opportunity to work on funded research projects, co-author papers with their advisors and other class-mates, present their contributions at international conferences, participate in the write-up of research proposals, prepare scientific reports, use simulation software, perform laboratory experiments, attend training schools, participate in workshops, etc. Moreover, they offer great career prospects: graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills in order to enable them to secure a research/academic position at a university or college, a government institute, or high-tech company.

The following text is a rendering of two articles on petroleum tanks issues. We are going to start with the first article, which is titled “Modernizing old tank farms to meet new requirements. As it can be seen form the title, it is devoted to the problem of modernization. It is a very common problem in technology, as we are constantly developing, new technologies appear and people come up with new ideas of doing things.
Tank modernisation often includes replacing existing level gauges. By using wireless communication for the inventory measurements the existing cable is now freed up. Another idea is that leaks from tank bottoms, buried valves, and pumps may not be seen and therefore may go undetected for long periods of time. Hydrocarbon sensor cable with a WirelessHART transmitter detects the presence of fuel in the soil or collecting in a sump. Sensor cable is installed beneath existing tanks using horizontal boring under the tank bottom to detect leakage through corroded steel floor plates.
Mechanical level gauges used in some tank farms have moving parts that wear, fail, and require maintenance. Many tanks farms are modernised replacing mechanical level gauges with electronic radar gauges, which have no moving parts resulting in high reliability and low maintenance cost. The new gauges integrate with existing inventory management system by emulating legacy proprietary protocols making it easy to upgrade and liberate the site from proprietary protocols tank by tank.
The second article considers advances in petroleum storage and transportation engineering. Petroleum storage and transportation (PST) engineering is an important department connecting upstream and downstream departments in petroleum industry. It plays a crucial role in energy supply for the development of regional economy.
There is a point of hydraulic suspension transport of the gelled crude oil to perform the unheated transportation. The results of the research show that the gelled crude oil hydraulic suspension transport could be achieved without any chemical reagent when the gelled crude oil was transformed into particles and dispersedly suspended in water. Furthermore, there is a research that shows how anti-injection baffle can make compact test separator with high separation efficiency and a relatively low pressure loss. Also, the diameter of anti-injection plate which makes the compact test separator at its highest separation efficiency is slightly smaller than that which makes the lowest pressure loss.

One of the essential skill nowadays is making presentations. It can be explained with the fact that we live in the era of computer technologies, so we use presentations quite frequently in many different place from offices to schools, summits, museums and so on.
One may think that any person can make a presentation. That’s right, but the question is: will it be appropriate and efficient? Sometimes the result of the interview or conference depends on how we present the important information. Obviously, there is a set of rules, that would help you make a really good presentation.
I definitely agree that there should be a style that you choose and stick to it, as well as a font size. Moreover, it’s important to try to be simple and not to overload your presentation with animation as it would make your audience concentrate on animation and not on the information.
There is no doubt that the information must be separated into theme blocks, one block for one slide is perfect. It also must be stated clearly. In fact, people can’t comprehend more than 10 concepts at a time, so don’t make too much slides.
Even if we present our ideas perfectly, likely there will be people who may want to ask some questions and get some further explanations on the subject. Therefore, you should use your time effectively. I agree that the presentation shouldn’t last more than 20 minutes, as it is enough to provide people with general ideas.
To conclude, the rules of making presentations are useful as they serve as an instruction how you can make your presentation better and get better results.
